Peace in Afghanistan vital to regional stability: Pakistan PM

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Pakistaninfo-icon Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said the establishment of peace in Afghanistaninfo-icon is inevitable for stability in the region.

At a banquethosted by Uzbek President Islam Karimov in his honour, Sharif said his government desired to maintain robust relations with all countries, including India and Afghanistan.

The Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) quoted the premier as saying his government had taken effective steps to combat terrorism. He also referred to offensive codenamed Zarb-i-Azb.

Sharif called for building an energy infrastructure corridor to enhance connectivity with Central Asian states.

Karimov hailed Pakistan as an important player in the region, as well as the worldinfo-icon,due to its geographical and geo-political situation. Coordinated efforts were needed to tackle the challenge of terrorism, he stressed.
