KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Berlin has announced sending 130 additional soldiers to Afghanistaninfo-icon, where the security situation has sharply deteriorated in recent months.

The announcement came on Wednesday when the cabinet met to discuss support for the Afghan security forces, which have been struggling to stem the tide of the Talibaninfo-icon-linked violence.

Currently, 850 German troops remain in the conflict-wrecked country in the framework of NATOinfo-icon’s Resolute Support Mission to train Afghan security forces.

As a result of the announcement, the number of German soldiers in Afghanistan will increase to 980, according to a statement from the government in Berlin.
