KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Paramilitary security personnel in Pakistaninfo-icon’s northwestern tribal region of Khyber have claimed thwarting an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of fertiliser to Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Kabul has banned the fertiliser that is used by the Talibaninfo-icon in making explosive devices. Following a spike in bomb attacks, ex-president Hamid Karzai banned the use of the fertiliser.

A Pakistani newspaper reported 375 bags of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) were recovered at the Torkham border from a truck carrying cement to Afghanistan.

Stuffed inside cement bags, the DAP sacks were recovered during a search at the border, The Express Tribune reported. The driver, a resident of Nangarhar province, was taken into custody and sent to the Landikotal lockup.
