Kunduzi asks security, judicial officials to be impartial

Nov 24, 2015 - 16:52

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The governor of eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday called on security and judicial officials to be impartial in performing their official obligations.

Addressing a joint meeting with security and judiciary officials, Saleem Khan Kunduzi shared President Ashraf Ghani’s instructions regarding the authorities and responsibilities of officials, the governor’s spokesman, Ataullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Kunduzi directed the officials to prevent land-grabbing, behave properly with tribes and take stern action against security personnel absent from their duty stations.

He said security forces were in fact a symbol of national unity and urged them to win people’s trust during their operations and stay apolitical and impartial.

“If the security and judicial officials demonstrate proper behaviour with the people, the gap between the masses and the government can be overcome,” he said.

On behalf of his department, Nangarhar police chief Maj. Gen. Fazal Ahmad Sherzad assured the governor of enforcing the presidential directives and intensifying efforts at increasing people’s trust in the police.
