JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least six insurgents have been killed in different security incidents in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants were killed on Saturday night when they wanted to storm security checkpoints in Hesarak district.
He said the security forces, who were tipped off about the Taliban plan, ambushed the fighters. Six militants were killed and three others caught alive, the spokesman added.
In Khogyani district, the gubernatorial spokesman said, a local Taliban commander was killed in a drone attack by foreign troops.
Elsewhere in the province, one fighter was killed and five others were caught alive during a clash with security personnel in the Shinwari Kala locality of Batikot district.
