16 more Daesh insurgents eliminated in Achin airstrikes

Dec 06, 2015 - 13:37

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 16 more fighters of the Islamic State (Daesh) group have been killed in eastern Nangarhar province, an official claimed on Sunday.

The insurgents were killed in airstrikes over the past 24 hours in Achin district, a Daesh stronghold near the Pakistaninfo-icon border, the governor’s spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Attaullah Khogyani said the said two heavy machineguns placed atop local mountains by the insurgents were destroyed as a result of the air raids.

The security forces and civilians suffered no casualties during the attacks in Achin, which is inaccessible for journalists and ordinary citizens.

A day earlier, 33 fighters of the group were killed in similar raids in the district, where a ground and air offensive has been ongoing over the past few weeks.
