JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A clash erupted between Talibaninfo-icon and Islamic State fighters in eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday, causing casualties on both sides.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the fire exchange in Chaparhar district continued until 12.00 noon.

Two Taliban were killed and four others, including a commander known as Maulviinfo-icon Ilham, wounded in the firefight, the official said.

One Daesh militant and three civilians were also injured in the incident, according to the spokesman, who gave no further details.

A resident of the area, Zainullah, said Taliban from other areas had reached the district to flush out their rival gunmen. However, he had no information about casualties.

Another source, meanwhile, confided to Pajhwok the Daesh members, who recently sneaked into Chaparhar, were trying to seize some Taliban strongholds there.
