JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Security forces have arrested a woman among 15 foreigners during search operations in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.

The individuals were detained by the Afghan National Army personnel in Ghanikhel and Rodat districts during search operations, the governor’s spokesman said. Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees included a woman, two children and the rest were adults.

The troops arrested three Pakistani nationals from a vehicle in Ghanikhel district, he said, adding the Pakistanis had told their interrogators they belonged to Kurram tribal region and Swat valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The remaining foreigners who were detained in Rodat district showed their nationalities as Tajik and Uzbek, the official said. The detainees are currently being investigated.

The arrests come two days after security forces detained a foreign woman and three children among six Uzbek nationals in Daronta area. Later when the woman and the children were shifted to the National Directorate of Security office in Jalalabad, the woman detonated explosives strapped to her body during investigation, killing herself, the three children and three intelligence officials including the deputy head.

Dozens of Uzbek families had migrated from Pakistaninfo-icon’s Waziristan tribal region to southern Zabul province and moved to other provinces following clashes with Talibaninfo-icon militants in Zabul.

Meanwhile, one insurgent was killed and two others wounded during separate clashes with security forces in Momand Dara and Achin districts.
