2 Logar education officials arrested for graft charges

Jan 02, 2016 - 17:02

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Intelligence officials have arrested the former and current directors of the Teacher Training Centre in central Logar province over corruption charges, an official said on Saturday.

Logar governor’s spokesman Salim Saleh told Pajhwok Afghan News Mohammad Ayub Sherzad, the former and Mir Ezzatullah, the current administrative heads of the teacher training centre, had been arrested over their alleged involvement in corruption.

He said the educationinfo-icon department had earlier tasked a delegation with investigating corruption allegations and students complaints against Sherzad.

He said Sherzad was dismissed two months ago following the complaints and another individual was hired.

Some sources in the education department confirmed the arrest of the two officials over corruption charges by National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) officials.

The spy-network has not yet commented over the incident.
