60 insurgents eliminated in military operations, says MoD

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Friday said 78 Talibaninfo-icon militants had suffered casualties in a string of security operations in different parts of the country.

MoD spokesman Brig. Gen. Dawlat Waziri told Pajhwok Afghan News 60 militants were killed, 14 wounded and four others detained during the operations in 13 provinces in the past 24 hours.

He said weapons and ammunition were also seized from the militants as a result of the raids, which also featured the Afghan National Army (ANA) commando units. Security forces suffered no casualties, he added.

However, the Taliban claimed in a statement on their website inflicting heavy casualties on Afghan forces in retaliatory attacks. They gave no more details.
