MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A drug addict died of harsh weather conditions on Thursday night in Maimana, the provincial capital of northern Faryab province, an official said on Friday.

The dead body was recovered from beneath a bridge and shifted to the Afghan-Turk hospital, a police official, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Other drug users, spending nights beneath the bridge, identified the deceased as Rostam Pahlawan, 45, a resident of Gawki area of Garziwan district of the province.

The addicts claimed police had badly beaten Pahlawan sometimes ago, calling it one of the main reasons behind his death, but the police rejected their claim as baseless.
