1 injured as rocket lands near Italian embassy in Kabul

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): At least one person was wounded when a Talibaninfo-icon-fired rocked landed near Italy’s embassy in the capital Kabul, an official said on Monday.

Faridoon Ubaidi, crime branch chief for the 101st Police Asmayee Zone, told Pajhwok Afghan News the rocked fired from the southern part of the city fell close to the embassy at 9pm.

One person was wounded in the incident, according to Ubaidi, who did not reveal the nationality of the injured. Police managed to seize a second rocket, he said.

A security official, who wished not to be named, said at the incident scene said two security guards of the embassy were wounded in the rocket attack.

No group has so far claimed responsibility, which came on the eve of the second meeting of the Quadrilateral Coordination Committee to prepare a roadmap for peace talks with the Taliban.
