Thousands killed in US-led war on terror: Asfandyar

Thousands killed in US-led war on terror: Asfandyar

Jan 20, 2016 - 10:11

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A Pakhtun nationalist political group has regretted the loss of thousands of lives in Afghanistaninfo-icon and Pakistaninfo-icon during the ongoing war on terrorism.

Asfandyar Wali Khan, Awami National Party president, asked the Pakistan government to pursue a neutral foreign policy instead of making the country part of any coalition against terrorism.

In a press statement, he said the country had risked its security by joining the US-led war on terrorism, which had claimed thousands of lives in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Around six million Afghans were forced into migrationinfo-icon to other countries as a result of the anti-Soviet jihadinfo-icon in the neighbouring country, Asfandyar Khan recalled.

Saudi Arabia has been urging the inclusion of Pakistan in an anti-terrorism alliance it launched last month. Islamabad has indicated its willingness to join the 34-nation coalition.
