Jan 26, 2016 - 11:08

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Ten policemen manning a check-post have been killed by the Talibaninfo-icon with the connivance of other cops in central Uruzgan province, an official said on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Chinartu district on Monday night, the town’s administrative chief, Malem Faiz Mohammad, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the insurgents, aided by a Taliban-linked policeman, killed the 10 security personnel, including thecheckpoint commander, Zainullah.

Mohammad believed the police official might have been poisoned before being shot to death.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said the group’s fighters had killed nine policemen at the check-post and snatched their weapons.

Meanwhile, the police chief, Brig. Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai, confirmed the incident. But he did not go into details. A week earlier, a policeman had killed nine of his colleagues in Deh Rawood district.
