5-year-old Murtaza from Ghazni wants to meet Messi

Feb 01, 2016 - 20:54

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A five-year-old boy from southern Ghazni province says he wants to meet Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi and wants him to construct a football ground in his home town of Jaghori district, after his photos in a homemade Messi shirt went viral on social media.

Wearing a plastic bag with Messi’s name written on it made Murtaza a global media sensation and inspired his parents to bring him from his Qambar village to Kabul, amid hopes to meet Messi.

When Pajhwok reporter asked Murtaza about Messi and football, he did not know much. But his father said when Murtaza for the first time watched a football match on TV he liked the way Messi struck a goal.

The father avoided to answer many questions, but said they wanted Messi to meet his son and arrange his visit to Brazil. He said his son wanted Messi to construct a football stadium in Jaghori district.
