Anti-Taliban teen shot to death in Uruzgan capital

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): A teenager boy who fought against Talibaninfo-icon was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Tirinkot, the provincial of central Uruzgan province, officials said on Tuesday.

Wasil Ahmad, a nephew of Khas Uruzgan district police chief, had gone to the local market for shoppingin the Khairo Karezinfo-icon area of Tirinkoton Monday afternoon, a security official said on condition of anonymity.

The 14-year-old boy, who took part in several fights against the Taliban, succumbed to serious bullet injuries in hospital, the source said.

A doctor on duty in Tirinkot Civil Hospital said the boy was brought in critical condition to the facility. The doctors referred him to Kandahar hospital where he breathed his last.

Taliban fighters have so far issued no statement regarding the shooting.
