PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The deputy police chief for central Logar province and his brother have been detained on charges of weapons smuggling, an official said on Saturday.

Crime branch chief, Col. Wasiuddin Talash, told Pajhwok Afghan News Qari Mohammad Wra and his brother were arrested by police in the capital Kabulinfo-icon two days ago.

“Wra’s brother was carrying weapons in the police officer’s Ranger pick-up for sale,” he said, adding the deputy police chief was not in the vehicle.” Talash said Wra had also been held over the use his vehicle.

Wra and his brother are currently under investigation. Another provincial security official, who wished to go unnamed, confirmed the arrests.

The source said the brother of Wra was serving in the Afghan forces. Wra has been serving as deputy police chief for Logar for the past one year.
