A dozen Taliban eliminated in North Waziristan offensive

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A dozen militants have been killed in Pakistaninfo-icon’s North Waziristan tribal region near the Afghanistaninfo-icon border, security officials said on Tuesday.

One intelligence official familiar with the operation told Pajhwok Afghan News Talibaninfo-icon commander Hezbollah was among the fatalities. Warplanes pounded three rebel hideouts in Shawal area.

Ground troops, closing in on the insurgent strongholds, had gained control of Kund Ghar and Jung Top areas, the source said, claiming the final push against militants was proceeding well.

Five soldiers including an army captain and 50 fighters have been killed in the last phase of the operation. The area would be cleared in coming weeks, the official hoped.
