KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Britain’s special envoy to Afghanistaninfo-icon and Pakistaninfo-icon Simon Gass has said the United Kingdom would continue supporting Afghanistan in diverse fields.

The senior British diplomat renewed the assurance during a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani at the Presidential Palace in Kabul on Monday night, a statement from the palace said.

It said the special envoy of the British prime minister reassured his country’s commitment to continuously supporting the Afghan people in different areas.

President Ghani hailed Britain’s cooperation with Afghanistan, particularly with the Resolute Support (RS) mission and said the cooperation helped improve relations between the two countries.

The president and the British envoy also discussed the upcoming NATOinfo-icon summits in Brussels and Warsaw.

International cooperation with Afghanistan in civil and military areas, particularly fighting against terrorism, would top the agenda of the two conferences in 2016.
