Afghanistan, Pakistan decides to resolve trade related issues

Mar 07, 2016 - 21:16

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghan Ambassador to Pakistaninfo-icon Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal has discussed with Pakistani federal minister for commerce Khurram Dastagir Khan issues plaguing the Afghan transit trade.

Zakhilwal, also special representative of President Ashraf Ghani, on his Facebook wall wrote on Monday that he discussed in detail with Dastagir problems the Afghan traders faced in Pakistan.

He said he told the Pakistani minister that promises about resolving Afghan traders’ problems in Pakistan and the issues in transit trade had not been translated into action.

Zakhilwal said the Pakistani commerce minister once again promised with him that he would call a meeting of all heads of the departments concerned to discuss all issues and subjects and make decisions.

Zakhilwal and Dastagir agreed that a joint mechanism would be put in place to oversee the implementation of decisions.

They also agreed that the two countries would hold a high level meeting after every two months to permanently resolve problems in commerce and transit trade between the two countries.
