KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghan security personnel recently seized military equipment and parts of helicopters that were being smuggled to Pakistaninfo-icon near Torkham dry port, an official said on Monday.

Some containers full of military equipment and parts of the helicopters, donated by India to the Afghan government, were seized in the Momandara district of Nangarhar, a source close to governor’s office told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Some individuals were trying to smuggle the equipment to Pakistan, but the security forces frustrated their bid, the source said. The items were shifted to the customs department, then National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) before being dispatched to Kabul.

The governor’s spokesman, Ataullah Khogyani, confirmed the seizure on the road to the Torkham dry port, but he had not further information about the equipment.
