KABUL.

Reposing confidence in the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), the president rejected bleak assessments of their capabilities following the withdrawal of foreign troops as baseless.

In a Nawroz message, he said the Afghan forces were capable of safeguarding their country and the current system. With the support of the people, the forces would not allow the enemies to divide the country.

Afghanistan would witness significant development in the new solar year, Ghani said, adding electricity production in 1395 would witness a quantum jump — seen never before in the past century.

While conceding shortcomings of his administration in certain sectors, the president called corruption a major issue. However, he said certain departments of the government were operating efficiently.

Ghani promised taking stringent measures in the war on administrative graft during the new year.
