Pakistan hopes for resumption of Afghan peace talks

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistaninfo-icon has reiterated its commitment to supporting efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Peace talks between the Afghan government and the Talibaninfo-icon would resume soon, hoped Defence Minister Khwaja Muhammad Asif.

Stability in the neighbouring country was important for the entire region,the Voice of America quoted him as saying on Saturday.

Pakistan would continue to support the dialogue process, as each step taken in this regard was important for the region, the minister added.

Both Kabulinfo-icon and Islamabad were trying to get rid of terrorism, Asif said, promising Pakistan would continue playing its role in establishing peace in Afghanistan.

He hoped Afghanistan, China and the United States would also make serious efforts to achieve the goal of stability.
