53 Afghans trying to enter Iran illegally detained in Gwadar

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Dozens of illegal Afghan citizens, including womeninfo-icon and children, have been detained in Pakistaninfo-icon’s southwestern Balochistan province, authorities said on Wednesday.

The security personnel arrested the 53 Afghans, attempting to enter Iran illegally,during regular checking on Shah Jahan Road in Gwadar area on Tuesday, a statement from the Pakistan Coast Guards said.

It added the arrested Afghans included 34 men, six women and 13 children. At least 22 Pakistanis were also held for trying to enter Iran via the sea route without valid visas and other documents.

On March 17, the coast guards apprehended 103 illegal immigrants in Pasni area. Officials suspect criminals and militants may flee the ongoing Zarb-i-Azb operation in the country.
