Kabul, Dushanbe confer on joint fight against drugs, terror

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon and Tajikistan have exchanged views on expanding border-control cooperation, a joint fight against terrorism and drug trafficking.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nasir Ahmad Andisha discussed all-round cooperation with his Tajik counterpart Nizomiddin Zohidi in Dushanbe on Tuesday.

They conferred on prospects of further increasing political, economic and humanitarian cooperation, a statement from Tajikistan’s foreign ministry said.

Preparations for the launch of the Central Asia-South Asia (CASA-1000) project also came up for detailed discussion. The project is important for the expansion of cooperation and regional stability.

The $1 billion project will transmit surplus power available from existing generation facilities in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan and Pakistaninfo-icon.
