Apr 26, 2016 - 15:29

SHARANA (Pajhwok): The newly-appointed police chief --- the third replacement in four months --- for southeastern Paktika province on Tuesday promised to play a key role in improving security in the province by using his influence.

Brig. Gen. Dawlat Khan Zadran has been appointed as new police chief and Abdul Rauf as new intelligence chief for Paktika.

Zardan is third provincial police chief taking change in four months. His predecessor, Zarawar Zahid, was replaced after one month in office and he has been appointed as the police chief for eastern Nangarhar province.

Paktika governor Aminullah Shariq introducing Zadran at a ceremony in Sharana, the provincial capital, praised the services of Zahid and the outgoing intelligence chief Col. Nasir Ahmad Abdul Rahimzai.

The governor said the two outgoing security officials had made untiring efforts at maintaining security in the province.

He said the new police chief, Dawlat Khan Zadran, had previously performed duty in Paktika for five years and he was known to the people.

He hoped the new police chief, using his influence among people, would play a key role in strengthening security in the province.

Zardan said he had previously served in the province and would take strong measures to bolster security and fight corruption in light of his experience in the province.

He said he had close links with the people of Paktika, who were cooperative with the government.
