Funding sources be found for incomplete school buildings

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday asked the ministries of finance and educationinfo-icon to find funding sources for completing more than 600 incomplete school buildings.

Presiding over a meeting of the National Procurement Commission (NPC), Ghani directed the two ministries to present an assessment report to the commission on incomplete projects in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and the Independent Directorate of Local Governance.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said some school buildings had been completed during the past four months, but 82 buildings could not be completed due to their location in insecure areas.

The status of the remaining 526 building should be specified and a solution found to the issue, the statement quoted the president as saying.

After hearing reports from the officials concerned, President Ghani said school projects had a vital importance and efforts should be made to execute them.

Ghani tasked the ministries of finance and education with finding funding sources for these projects through discussing the issue with donors.
