Iranian national, 6 rebels killed in Herat incidents
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A teenage Iranian national and six Taliban militants, including a commander, have been killed during two separate incidents in western Herat province, an official said on Saturday.
A group of Taliban on Friday night attacked a joint convoy of Afghan border police and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel in the Kohsan district, the governor’s spokesman, Jilani Farhad, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
In the ensuing clash, Mullah Alif, a Taliban notorious commander, and his five fighters were killed and another four wounded, he said.
Separately, an Iranian national, Shahrukh, was shot dead yesterday by unidentified gunmen in Park-i-Taraqi area of Herat City.
Police spokesman Abdul Rauf Ahmadi said Shahrokh had been cooperating with the Ministry of Interior’s counternarcotics department for the past 15 years.
