HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A teenage Iranian national and six Talibaninfo-icon militants, including a commander, have been killed during two separate incidents in western Herat province, an official said on Saturday.

A group of Taliban on Friday night attacked a joint convoy of Afghan border police and National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) personnel in the Kohsan district, the governor’s spokesman, Jilani Farhad, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

In the ensuing clash, Mullahinfo-icon Alif, a Taliban notorious commander, and his five fighters were killed and another four wounded, he said.

Separately, an Iranian national, Shahrukh, was shot dead yesterday by unidentified gunmen in Park-i-Taraqi area of Herat City.

Police spokesman Abdul Rauf Ahmadi said Shahrokh had been cooperating with the Ministry of Interior’s counternarcotics department for the past 15 years.
