JALALABAD CITY (Pajhwok): A teenage girl has been burnt alive to death by her sister-in-law in eastern Nangarhar province, the provincial government spokesman said on Saturday.

Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place on Saturday morning in Alikhel area in the limits of 3rd municipal district of Jalalabad city, the provincial capital.

The 15-years-old Bibi Zenat, a 9th grade student, was thrown into a burning traditional oven (Tandoor) by her brother’s wife.

Khogyani said security forces had detained Zenat’s sister-in-law in connection with the incident but she hadn’t yet confessed to killing the girl.

Zenat’s parents were in Kabulinfo-icon and her brother was out home when the incident took place.
