2 polio vaccinators go missing in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two polio vaccinators have been kidnapped in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan Newsthe abduction took place in Lalpura Chaknori area on Monday evening.

Police have launched an operation to recover the vaccinators.Some tribal elders had been tasked to negotiate with the Talibaninfo-icon to free the polio workers, Khogyani added.

A three-day polio drive is ongoing in many part of the country to wipe out the poliovirus. Due to insecurity 15,000 children have been deprived of polio drops in Nangarhar.
