CEO meets Chinese PM; 6 cooperation accords signed

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon and China have signed six documents on bilateral cooperation during Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah’s visit to Beijing, the CEO office said.

Two agreements, one memorandum of understanding and three exchange notes were inked between the two sides in the presence of CEO Abdullah and Chinese Prime MinisterLi Keqiangon Monday.

One agreement provides for bilateral cooperation between the two nations on production and export of Afghan Saffron. Another signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Salahuddin Rabbani concerns technical cooperation, having a value of 500 Chinese Yuan.

A third accord is regarding cooperation on the Silk Route, signed by Foreign Minister Rabbani and his Chinese counterpart, according to the statement.

The three other documents include the construction of an auditorium at Kabul University, 50 million yuan non-emergency aid by China to Afghanistan and a survey for the construction of cost-effective houses for government employees.

At his meeting with Abdullah, Premier Li said there was great potential for cooperation between the two countries on infrastructure development, as well as promoting agricultureinfo-icon and educationinfo-icon.

For his part, Abdullah underline Afghanistan’s desire to deepen economic ties with China.
