Noor will be accountable if I'm harmed: PC member

Noor will be accountable if I'm harmed: PC member

May 29, 2016 - 23:13

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): If he or his family members are attacked, Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad Noor would be responsible, a public representative warned on Sunday.

A member of the provincial council, Mohammad Asif Momand, wrote recently on his Facebook page regarding injustices and branded Atta Noor as an iron-fisted governor.

On May 25, 2016, the governor’s office ordered security and detective organs to take stringent measures for the security of the provincial council member and his family.

But Momand, addressing a press conference here on Sunday, denied the governor’s office had issued any orders for his security. The governor might do quite the reverse of what he publicly said, he observed.

Over the past one month, he has been protesting against injustice in government offices, including the Departments of Public Healthinfo-icon, Educationinfo-icon and Municipality on his Facebook account.

“The Balkh governor only watches this injustice; he can’t tolerate a person who reveals the truth,” the public representative claimed.

“I neither have enmity with anybody nor involve in any political movement. If I or any of my family members are harmed, the governor will be held accountable,” he continued.

The governor’s near and dear ones could get jobs and many of the departments had been dominated by a few people over the past 10 years, he alleged, blaming the governor for failing to hold even a single meeting with members of provincial council in the past one year.

He asked President Ashraf Ghani to send a delegation to the province for investigating the injustices in government departments.

But the governor’s spokesman, Munir Farhad, rejected Momand’s allegations as baseless. He said the PC member had been provoked by in individual or a group to defame the governor.

According to Farhad’s information, the groups that provoke Momand also intended to assassinate him and blame the governor for that. A formal letter had been sent to security organs to take tight measures to protect Momand.

“Over the past three months, I have seen several times Mohammad Asif Momand having meetings with the governor and sharing demands of his supporters,” the spokesman said.

The recruitment process was being conducted in line with open and free computations and it was the authority of the ministries concerned to recruit eligible candidates.
