5 lives lost as pick-up plunges into Kunar river, says police chief

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Five people have killed and three others wounded in a traffic accident in the Watapur district of eastern Kunar province, an official said on Monday.

Police chief Abdul Habib Syedkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the accident happened in Serei locality late on Sunday when a pickup lost its direction and plunged into a river.

Dr. Farooq Sahak, head of the AsadabadCivil Hospital, said four bodies, including a woman and a child, and as many injured had been evacuated to the hospital.

According to Sahak, two of the injured were in serious condition and transferred to Jalalabad for better medical treatment.
