KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Saturday tasked a special commission with investigating the arrest of a key Talibaninfo-icon figure from the Maidan Wardak police chief’s vehicle in Kabul.

Qari Zahir, Taliban’s intelligence head for northern Baghlan province, was detained on June 19 with two other policemen -- one of them a close relative of Brig. Gen. Khalil Anadrabi, police chief for Maidan Wardak.

The transfer of the Taliban leader in the vehicle of Andarabi has sparked a strong reaction from different circles, demanding immediate investigations into the incident. The parliament came hard on the government, with lawmakers seeking credible investigations.

Interior Minister Taj Mohammad Jahid was summoned to the Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon on Saturday to brief lawmakers on the overall situation. Jahid told lawmakers that a commission had been tasked by the president to investigate the issue.

The commission will submit a comprehensive report to the president so before he took a final decision. Jahid said Khalil Andarabi was under probe since the incident happened. He said any government official cooperating with the insurgents would be punished.
