US probing alleged killing of captives in airstrike

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Pentagon is probing reports about a US airstrike that left dead at least six individuals in Talibaninfo-icon’s captivityand an insurgent commander.

One unnamed Defense Department official was quoted as saying by Reuters news agency the alleged civiliandeaths in Saturday’s raid near Kunduz City were being investigated.

Janat Gul Osmani, a senior Taliban commander blamed for kidnappings, was killed along with five associated when his vehicle was struck in the Chardara district of Kunduz province.

The militants killed six civilian prisoners in retaliation by blowing them up. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the killing of Janat Gul and four other fighters.

He said six Afghan soldiers in Taliban’s captivitywere also killed in the raid."Our enemy later on spread rumours that the mujahideeninfo-icon blew up and killed the prisoners which we strongly reject."
