Paktika intelligence officer dead in Taliban attack

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): One security official was killed and five others were wounded in a Talibaninfo-icon attack on their convoy in the Andar district of southern Ghazni province on Thursday, authorities said.

The identity of the victim could not be established immediately, but a source in Paktika government identified the security official as Bakhtiar Gul Paktin, deputy head of the National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) for the province.

Syed Anwar Agha, the district police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the security forces’ convoy came under Taliban attack in Shah Khok locality at around 10:00am. The convoy was on its way to Ghazni province from Paktika.

Provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Aminullah Amarkhel, confirmed the incident, saying two of the injured were in unstable condition.
