Warsaw summit 2nd day: Afghanistan key subject of discussion

WARSAW (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon would be key point of discussion in the ongoing NATOinfo-icon summit in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, an official said on Saturday.

Afghan delegation headed by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah had already arrived in the polish capital to attend the vital summit.

Presidential Spokesman Haroon Chakhansuri told Pajhwok Afghan News the second day of the alliance summit was specified for Afghanistan and some other issues.

He said today the NATO member-state would renew their long-term military and economic cooperation with Afghanistan. According to Chakhansuri worldinfo-icon leaders and President Ghani would briefly address the summit and later a joint statement would be issued.

 Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg Said in his inaugural remarks said he expected NATO Heads of State and Government to make three important decisions on Afghanistan in the ongoing summit.

He pointed out the three key decision when asked about Afghanistan expectation from the summit, the first was about NATO continued military presence not with combat forces, but with a train, assist and advise mission So the alliance could train, assist and advise the Afghan national army and security forces.

Second, he said the summit may decide on continued funding of the national Afghan forces And the third was his expectation from the heads of member-state and Government also to reconfirm for NATO long-term political partnership and cooperation with Afghanistan.
