JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Deputy military affairs commander of the Islamic State or Daesh group has been killed in an Afghan commando forces’ operation in the Kot district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.

Sad Emirati, the IS senior commander, was killed in Sarai bazaar area of the district on Monday evening by the commando forces, the Nangarhar governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Attaullah Khogyani said: “Sad Emirati was Daesh’s deputy military affairs commander, who recently led the conflict in Kot district.”

A security official said Emirati was actual resident of central Logar province and he defected to the Islamic State group from Talibaninfo-icon after the death of Mullahinfo-icon Mohammad Omar, the founder of Taliban movement.

He said Sad Emirati was deputy military affairs commander of Daesh group and had been involved in a series of terrorist activities.

The Daesh group has so far said nothing about the death of their commander.
