This year's Shpageeza event to feature foreign cricketers: ACB

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Some foreign cricket players would take part in Shpageeza, kind of Twenty-20 League, this year, the Afghanistaninfo-icon Cricket Board (ACB) said on Saturday.

ACB spokesman Farid Hotak, told Pajhwok Afghan News foreign players, mainly Pakistanis, were expected to play in Shpageeza. Invitations have been sent out and some foreigners had confirmed their availability, he added.

From Pakistaninfo-icon Nasir Jamshid, Mohammad Asif, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Sami, Salman But, Khalid Latif and Sekander Raza from Zimbabwe would play in the Shpageeza T-20 tournament, according to Hotak.

He said the foreign players would arrive in Kabul soon and would play in the locally famous tournament in different teams.

ACB Director Nasimullah Danish said the board would provide all facilities to in international players, adding the cricket administration had the ability to host foreign player and provide them complete security.

Danish believed, the participation of International player in Shpageeza tournament would have positive impact on domestic players and the local players would have an opportunity to learn and share things on and off the pitch with worldinfo-icon class players.

ACB Executive Director Shafiqullah Stanikzai said the presence of international players in the country would have positive impact on cricket in the country.

Shpageeza T-20 tournament would kick off on August 9, the inauguration ceremony would be held coming Monday. Last year the tournament draw the attention of people and fans waited for the thrill and excitement this year as well.
