SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): A group of 35 militants and their families have joined the reconciliation process in northern Jawzjan province, asked the government to provide them basic facilities.

Headed by Mullahinfo-icon Tahir and Malem Khan, the group fuelled the insurgency in the Dasht-i-Lali area of Faryab province. It, however, renounced violence and surrendered weapons in their possession.

They urged the government to arm them for fighting against the individuals who promoted Pakistaninfo-icon’s interests by fuelling the insurgency in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Governor Maulviinfo-icon Lutfullah Aziz said the group members had been provided plots and all other facilities of living on the Khwaja Dokuh-Shiberghan road.

He said the government was responsible for protecting the citizens and ensuring the security of those who shunned militancy and joined the peace process.

One month earlier, another group of 15 people had joined the reconciliation process.
