Taliban storm Nuristan’s Want Waigal district

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Dozens of Talibaninfo-icon stormed the Want Waigal district of eastern Nuristan province early Sunday morning, but security forces repulsed the attack successfully, an official said.

Governor Hafiz Abdul Qayyum told Pajhwok Afghan News scores of militants staged the attack on the district from different sides. He said Arabs, and other foreign insurgents aided the Taliban in the early morning attack on Want Waigal district.

The governor said fighting between the two sides was underway, but he had no information about casualties. The Taliban have not commented about the group attack on Waigal.
