MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and as many militants have been killed during two separate clashes in eastern Laghman province, an official said on Tuesday.

Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News militants attacked security check-posts late on Monday in Mango and Sandro localities of Alingar district, sparking a gun battle that lasted few hours.

The clash left three ANA soldiers and two attackers dead and another three attackers wounded, he added.

Separately, security forces backed by local uprising members attacked rebels in Dawlat Shah district early on Tuesday, killing one insurgent and wounding two others.

Zwak said the ongoing insecurity had displaced as many as 800 families in the province. He said representatives of the displaced persons held a meeting with the governor and shared with him their problems.

The governor assured the displaced families that the government would utilise all its resources to help them.

Zwak said the governor directed the authorities concerned to do everything possible facilitating the displaced people and provide them with every facility.
