Kunduz City without electricity since Thursday

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Electricity supply to Kunduz City, the provincial capital of northern Kunduz province, has been suspended after the supply lines cut off as a result of clashes in Alchin locality on the outskirts of Kunduz City, an official said on Friday.

Eng. Hamidullah, Da Afghanistaninfo-icon Breshna Shirkat (DABS) head for Kunduz, told Pajhwok Afghan News the main lines supplying electricity to Kunduz City was disconnected during Thursday clashes in Alchin and there had been complete outage in provincial capital.

He said there was no let up in clashes in the area and the DABS official could not go to the area to restore the supply.

Security officials could not be reached for comments.

Provincial Council Member Safiullah Ameri said the weather was hot in Kunduz and people were in trouble since the electricity supply suspension

He asked the government to do all they could for restoring the electricity supply to the provincial capital.
