Ghani, Abdullah attend fateha for Zarawar Zahid

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani and his Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah on Saturday attended a prayer service for the slain Nangarhar police chief Brig. Gen. Zarawar Zahid and victims of a double suicide bombing in Kabul.

Zarawar was recently killed in a roadside explosion in Hesarak district of the eastern province along with some policemen.

The twin suicide bombings killed some 30 people and injured dozens more on September 5 in the heart of Kabul.

The fateha for Zarawar and his slain colleagues and the blasts victims was offered at Eid Gah Mosqueinfo-icon on Saturday afternoon.

Top government officials including National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Cabinet members and politicians attended the memorial service, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.

The president once again offered his condolences to families of the slain security officials and prayed for the departed souls.
