ALP member, 3 Taliban dead in Laghman fighting

MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Three Taliban and an Afghan local police (ALP) member were killed and 10 civilians, mostly children, wounded in a clash in eastern Laghman province on Tuesday, an official said.

Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News militants stormed Maidanio, Harmal and Bibi Hajiri’s check-posts at around 5am. Three ALP members and nine Taliban were wounded. 

Three Notorious Taliban commanders Naqibullah known as Jalali, Naseem and Khanzadah and an ALP personnel was killed and nine Taliban, three ALP forces were wounded in the gun battle, he said.

During the clash two mortar shell landed on a house in which 10 civilians most of them children were wounded who had been evacuated to the hospital.

Ahmadullah, a resident of teh locality, said the Taliban stormed security check-posts and torched them.

Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
