Taliban's assault on Dawlatyar district beaten back

FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): At least five Talibaninfo-icon were killed and eight others wounded as the group's attack on the Dawlatyar district of western Ghorinfo-icon province was beaten back, an official said on Wednesday.

Mohammad Musa Kalim, the town’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News over the telephone the Taliban launched the assault early in the morning on Tuesday and were forced to retreat at around 2:00am.

Three security personnel and two civilians suffered light injuries during the fierce gunbattle, he said.

The Taliban also attacked Charsadda district on Tuesday but security forces put up strong resistance and forced the attackers to move back.
