Commanders among 14 rebels killed in Kunduz

KUNDUZ (Pajhwok): Fourteen Talibaninfo-icon militants including three notorious commanders have been killed and five others wounded during Special Forces’ overnight operations in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Saturday.

The 808 Speen zone police commander, Lt. Gen. Shir Aziz Kamawal, told Pajhwok Afghan News the operations were conducted on the outskirts of Kunduz city late on Friday night.

He added 14 Taliban were killed including commanders Anas, Pahlawan and Sheikhak and five others were injured.

Kamawal said the operation had air support from NATOinfo-icon forces. The ground forces cleared Shinwari villages, Khazani and Zakhel localities of insurgent’s presence and several weapons were also destroyed.
