Kandahar roadside explosion leaves a civilian dead, 2 hurt

KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): One civilian has been killed and two others wounded in a roadside explosion, while security forces arrested a would-be suicide bomber in Southern Kandarhar province, an official said on Sunday.

Police Spokesman Zia Durani told Pajhwok Afghan News once civilian was killed and two others wounded when their vehicle struck a roadside explosion in Bagh-Pai locality late on Saturday. The injured had been evacuated to the Mirwais hospital of Kandahar, he said.

The target of the planted mine was security force convoy, said Durrani.

Separately, Police arrested a would-be suicide bomber in the limits of 14th police district in Kandahar city, the provincial capital, he said. The detained individual was being investigated, he said.

One policeman was killed and three others wounded in a suicide bombing. The bombing was carried out though a Saracha type of vehicle at around 10:30am in Teri Ade locality situated in the limits of 9th police district, according to Durrani.

He said the target of suicide attacker was police chief of the 9th police district but he luckily survived the attack.
