JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The administrative chief for the Batikot district of eastern Nangarhar province survived a roadside bombing that left eight people wounded on Monday.

Ghalib Mujahid, the district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News they came under roadside bombattack outside the district headquarters at around 11am today.

He escaped unhurt but eight other people including a policeman, a tribal elder and six children were wounded, the official said.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the incident and said the district chief survived but eight people, including children and elders, were wounded.

An eyewitness, Niamatullah, said the blast took place when Mujahid was leaving the district headquarters. He saw five wounded children and an elderly man.
