Ghani calls for greater focus on professional education

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has underlined the need for equal acquisition of technical and professional educationinfo-icon by men and womeninfo-icon, his office said on Friday.

Speaking at a workshop here on Thursday, the president called for creating facilities for males and females to acquire technical and professional education.

According to a statement from the Presidential Palace, higher education experts, students and senior officials of education and social affairs ministries took part in the event.

Different subjects, including the value of technical education, teachers’ capacity development and challenges to educational institutes came up for discussion.

In his address, Ghani underscored the imperative of greater concentration of technical and literacy courses. He directed the relevant institutions to develop organised literacy and professional plans in coordination with efficient foundations.

Poverty in Afghanistaninfo-icon would be alleviated and economic stability achieved if the country’s natural resources were exploited, the president believed, saying the private sector could play a vital role in creating jobs.
